New Domain Name Purchased
I’ve just purchased a new domain name, I’m not too sure what I’m going to do with this yet, so watch this space. For the moment, its active and is another way to visit Chris Powell Photography.
Kirsty & Mark :: Wedding Highlights
Yesterday I had the pleasure to photograph Kirsty & Mark’s amazing wedding day.
It was a hectic start to the day around at the Mason’s where the finishing touches were being put together whilst hair & makeup was well underway.
Kirsty arrived in style in a 1930′s classic Riley car at St Barnabas, in her childhood village of Swanmore.
It was a beautiful ceremony with the church packed with 130 of their closest friends and family.
After some photos at the church and big group shot of the 130 guests it was off to Hill Place just five minutes around the corner, for an amazing reception. Guests had plenty of time to mingle in the gorgeous grounds, before moving into the massive marquee in the garden for their wedding breakfast.
I’d like to say a big thank you to Will & Rebecca and the team at Hill Place for making yesterday such a pleasurable wedding, and allowing us access to some of the more intimate parts of the house (and the roof) for some private shots with Kirsty & Mark (Check here for an earlier review of Hill Place).
Following speeches from Peter, Mark & Simon the guests were treated to performances by Josey Kayne who sang into the evening, before the DJ took over for the rest of the night.
All in all, the weather was amazing and the guests were great, and I hope Kirsy & Mark found yesterday as beautiful as they dreamed.
Here’s their Wedding Day Highlights, for all the images from their day, check the gallery out here.

Clare & Marcus :: Wedding Highlights
This past weekend I had the privilege of photographing what has to be the most romantic wedding of the year out at Hall Place, Berkshire College of Agriculture. And the weather not only held out, but the sun came out just at the right time. The day was full of surprises, Clare arrived in a horsebox, a guest appearance from Beau (Clares Horse), Marcus serenaded Clare to start the evening.
Clare & Marcus and their guests were absolutely amazing, and gave us plenty of time to take some great photos, Clare never stopped smiling all day.
Here’s Clare & Marcus’s Wedding Story.

It was a stunning day over at Duffield House for Vicky & Jon’s special day. Here is their Wedding Story Highlights.
We started the day over at Define Hair & Beauty over in Burnham, where I met Vicky and her Mother & Bridesmaids.

It was then time to pop across the road to Duffield House top meet up with Jon & his Groomsmen.

The ceremony was held in Duffield House’s wonderfully light ceremony room.

It was Taylor’s job to walk his Mum down the aisle.

We then sneaked away for some more intimate shots of Vicky, Jon & Taylor.

Jon surprised Vicky with a wonderful present.

It was then time to sit down for the Wedding Breakfast.

After a wonderful Wedding Breakfast it was time for the speeches, Jon was up first.

Vicky then made a very moving and emotional speech.

Dom then gave an excellent and hilarious speech.

It was then time for a little confetti.

After a short break it was Cake Cutting time…

Vicky & Jon’s first dance was to Stevie Wonder’s Signed, Sealed, Delivered Yours

Vicky & Jon, I wish you a lifetime of happiness. Thank you for letting us be a part of such a magical day.
Corporate Headshots with the Lastolite Hi-Lite
I’ve found myself using the Lastolite Highlite more and more for corporate headshots as of late. Its ideal for the standard headshot, or groups of upto 5 people.
I’ve also used it as one huge softbox, miming a large window. Combined with a Elinchrom Octobox the light is incredibly soft and ideal for portrait work.
Here are a few setup shots of this setup in action, The hi-lite is 7ft wide, by 6ft high, I’ve raised it up on a background stand to allow me to use it in its wider orientation to fit more people into the group shots (gives me 1ft more width wise, over height). I find this setup works great too for a photo booth setup.
Lighting Config :: Background f11, Octobox f8 – Canon 1D MK IV – Canon 70-200mm L @ 1/200, f8
And what do the results look like?
Oddington Woods
I took the opportunity whilst visiting family to make the most of the country side. Here are a few shots from today’s visit to Oddington Woods.

St Nicholas, Oddington
Whilst up visiting family in the Cotswolds I got chance to visit Oddington, after a good old walk around the nearby woods we decided to have a quick peak inside St Nicholas church, a medieval church dating back to the 11th Century.
I thought I’d share a few images of this magnificent church.
St Nicholas Church, Oddington is well known for its magnificent medieval wall paintings. Dating back to the 11th Century, the church once stood on the Manor of Oddington which was owned by the Archbishop of York.

The main wall painting in the church is the 14th Century ‘Doom’ and adorns the western end of the north wall of the nave. Dating back to around 1340 the painting is 32 feet long by 15 feet high.

The bell tower, whose bells hung silent and dangerous for many years were lovingly restored in the early 1970′s, where a treble bell was added.

Duffield House, Stoke Poges
After an amazing wedding on Saturday I thought I’d write a quick review of Duffield House.

Duffield House is an amazing wedding venue, with large picturesque grounds. Built in the late 1860′s Duffield house has had several owners, and was requisitioned as a military administrative headquarters during World War II. Now owned by AkzoNobel and used as a conference venue during the week, Duffield makes the perfect venue to host you wedding.
Duffield House is also licensed for Civil Ceremony’s for upto 100 people.
Having just shot Vicky & Jon’s wedding her last weekend, here are a few shots of Duffield house.
Thanks to Mark & his team for making my day so much easier and providing all the access required (thanks for the use of your ladder too!)

The ceremony room can seat up to 100 and is wonderfully light, great for photos!

And with a little colour washing magic, courtesy of Spacebar Productions.
